Surf City Garage Does Rust
Waking The Truck
This week, work commenced on this 1938 Chevy Half Ton Pickup, originally bought by SCG Founder Tim Miller’s brother fifteen years ago. With the hope to one day rebuild it, the brothers purposefully left it out to face the weather all these years in order to achieve a natural rusted patina, often only replicated on rat rods today. Our plan? Now we’re gearing up to build Surf City Garage’s first custom Rat Rod, and we want fellow car enthusiasts like you to be a part of it!
Why The Rust?
The question on most people’s minds is why a wax and polish company would be so interested in building a custom rat rod. The answer for us is simple: We’re car people. Sure, when you think Surf City Garage you think of shiny muscle cars and premium car care, but even our passion for car care stems from our first love - the automobile. The idea of hand-picking various parts and putting them together to build a unique, functioning automobile is both an exhilarating and rewarding new project for the SCG team.
You Pick It, We’ll Build It
The result? Well, you tell us. We’re gathering our SCG fans and fellow car enthusiasts to join in on the build, every step of the way. Want us to install a Mustang II front suspension? Do you prefer a spartan or fully finished interior? What do you think about a 1966 421 Pontiac Catalina 2+2 power plant? That’s the beauty of it: you pick it, we’ll build it!
